Why bother with creative writing? Today’s employers are looking for creative thinkers, not just employees who are skilled at their jobs. Thinking creatively is a skill that begins in youth and can progress only if given opportunity! Take advantage of this opportunity to explore a fun path to creativity–myths.
Based on the reading of D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths, this class incorporates both formal and creative writing. You will research, write summaries of, and create online images of your favorite mythical characters. You will then invent a new mythological character. As a final project, you will write a story introducing this character into your favorite myth.
Concepts taught are reading comprehension, thinking and research skills, and writing.
