How to Schedule Document Services
Inkwell offers two services to support students’ writing process—proofreading and writing coaching. These services are offered electronically for typical school assignments of non-technical subjects only. Papers must be submitted with enough lead-time for us to provide service. Prior to Inkwell’s acceptance of a project, students should email written directions, project requirements, length range or limit, and due dates for the assignment. PLAN AHEAD to ensure service. We cannot accommodate last-minute emergencies. If students prefer in-person consultation, they should schedule private tutorials.
Because it is important for students to learn how to apply rules to correct their own mistakes and to develop the analytical skills needed for making effective rhetorical choices, editors make suggestions rather than changes or rewrites.
What is Proofreading?
Proofreading is the check of a final draft for mechanical correctness. This service excludes evaluation of a paper’s content, organization, or style, although a proofreader may suggest such service if it seems warranted. Proofreaders provide comments that identify errors in–
- grammar and usage
What Does Proofreading Cost?
The fee is $12 per double-spaced page submitted electronically in 12-point font with a minimum of 3 days lead time from the point that a document is received for processing. Any less turnaround time requires rush service, which is $20 per page.
What Is Writing Coaching?
Writing coaching is a service that supports the entire writing process from brainstorming to final presentation. It involves an initial consultation to brainstorm and organize ideas and three submissions of a document. A teaching coach will evaluate the first submission primarily for content and structure, the second primarily for development and style, and the third for mechanics.
What Does Coaching Cost?
$75 covers the required initial project consultation. In addition to the consultation fee you purchase “units” to cover the length of a paper, which is its final maximum length, not the number of words submitted in the first draft. A unit, which costs $25, covers up to 250 words, so a package for a 750-word paper, for example, is $150. And a package for the Common Application essay plus two U of M Common App supplements would be $225. There is no rush service for coaching.
Prior to an initial consultation, email written directions, project requirements, length range or limit, and due dates for the assignment. PLAN AHEAD to ensure service.
