Inkwell English Education maintains a website, which is updated periodically. To obtain the most current information about document services, please visit https://inkwelledu.com/doc-services/ on Inkwell’s website.
To receive any of Inkwell’s document services, parents or legal guardians must first complete a registration form for each student who is not an adult and accept these Document Services Policies, Terms & Conditions. There is a small fee to register. We cannot provide service without your registration and agreement.
- If you are a current student, do not complete a new family registration. Simply review your existing family and student profiles and update your contact information as needed. Then proceed to fill out a Doc Services Request form.
- If you are a new student, you must complete a registration before filling out a Doc Services Request form.
Inkwell’s registration form links to a payment portal and to our scheduling and business management software, creating you an account. Your account provides many features to support two-way communication between Inkwell, tutors, students, and parents. Students and parents have separate accounts, but student accounts are tied to their parent’s account.
Please activate your account so that you can receive document services. Open the “Welcome to Inkwell English Education” email sent to the address you registered, click on the link provided, and set up your credentials. Your user ID will be the email address you registered with, and you will choose your own password.
After registration, students who are at least 13 years old may request document services for themselves. If children aged 13 or older affirm that their parents or guardians approve a service, Inkwell will usually accept the request on the word of those minor children. In certain situations, Inkwell may contact the responsible parent prior to providing a service. Inkwell neither knowingly accepts registrations from children nor solicits business directly from them.
Contact Information and Communication
To ensure effective communication, keep your contact information current. Notify us immediately if your phone number, Skype ID, email, or home address changes. Email both the tutor assigned to your project and the office at [email protected]
Our office is staffed only part-time, so please allow plenty of time for messages to be retrieved and responded to. Since caller IDs and email addresses do not identify you readily, we don’t know who you are and what you want unless you tell us clearly. Confusion easily arises because often students’ and parents’ last names are different, and we sometimes have more than one student with the same first and even last name. If you write an email, send a text, or leave a voice mail message, please identify yourself, your student’s first and last name, your assigned teacher, and pertinent specific information (like the date and time of a scheduled service) so that we can handle the message properly.
Doc Services Request
After you complete the one-time registration, you can submit a request for document service.
To submit a Doc Service Request, go to the Services tab on Inkwell’s website and select Document Services. The request form is linked on that page. Since the details of your request are specific to a particular document, you will need to complete a separate form each time you request a new service. In the request form, you will specify what type of service you require.
Inkwell offers document services for typical school assignments about non-technical subjects and for college admissions essays. Mainly, these services are provided asynchronously through Google Docs. If you prefer synchronous service, you must register instead for private tutoring.
We offer three service tiers—coaching, editing, and proofreading. The level of attention to a document and the associated charges for each tier are clearly identified on our website.
Please visit https://inkwelledu.com/document-services/ to check current pricing and aa description of what the charges include.
Coaching is a good option if you are inexperienced with managing long-term projects, confused about what a writing assignment is asking for, unable to generate meaningful ideas on your own, or just more comfortable with being fully supported so that you can ask and receive answers to questions.
Coaches are project managers who also edit and proofread your document. They support the entire writing process or any phase of it from planning to the final presentation. Purchase of a coaching unit includes an initial reading and review of the preliminary documents you upload, a half hour consultation to discuss and set the timetable for your project, two asynchronous edits of versions of your document, asynchronous proofreading of the final copy, and email support. It is the most comprehensive service. Only students who elect document coaching are afforded videoconferencing and email support. The other two service tiers provide only asynchronous comments.
A coach will arrange an initial consultation to explain the editing process and answer your questions; discuss project requirements, priorities, and due dates; plan and establish a workable timeline to complete the project on schedule; brainstorm ideas; and strategize how to develop and organize those ideas. Consultations included with writing coaching are conducted by videoconference to clarify needs and expectation. They are scheduled by Inkwell’s Office and appear on your calendar, and dates and times scheduled are strictly observed. If you need to reschedule a consultation, you must reach your assigned tutor at least 36 hours in advance to make alternative arrangements. If you miss the consultation, you lose that part of your document service unit, and you will have to reschedule for an additional fee. If you wish to consult via Skype, you must provide your Skype ID on the Request for Doc Services form.
In order to allow for turnaround of a project by its due date, you must follow the timeline planned during your initial consultation, especially the scheduled deadlines for the three electronic submissions included in your coaching package.
- The 1streading evaluates your paper’s strengths, suggests changes for improvement in its content and structure, and identifies concision techniques and possible text to cut in order to adhere to a word limit. You then revise the paper accordingly.
- The 2ndreading evaluates style and the success of initial revisions, offering further recommendations. Once you have completed your best effort on the paper, you submit it for a third and final time.
- The 3rdreading is a proofreading, a brief check for typos and errors in grammar, spelling, mechanics, and format, with suggested corrections for you to make.
If further service is required for a project, additional editing or proofreading fees will apply. If further service is required, it must be purchased separately. Expedited service is not available for coaching.
Editing is a good option if you have strong organizational, grammatical, and mechanical skills but you want an unbiased perspective on the merits of your draft.
Editing is a mid-level service that includes a single reading of a paper only. Editors are reviewers that judge the strengths and weaknesses of a paper. They analyze its focus, content, organization, and tone. Editors try to ensure that a paper will meet the goal of an assignment effectively within the targeted word count. Looking at it holistically, they evaluate a writer’s ideas and methods of delivery. Their suggestions focus on how the document could be improved by adding, deleting, changing, or rearranging content. They do not check documents for technical errors in things like grammar and punctuation. Though they may make some general comments about the mechanics of presentation, their main concern is WHAT is said and HOW the message is communicated.
No email, phone, or Skype support is included with editing. Editors will post comments in Google for you to consider making changes to improve your paper. You then use their suggestions to revise your documents. Expedited service may be available on a per case basis.
Proofreading is a good option if you are a strong writer confident in the merits of your document’s content, organization, style, and length, but you want another pair of eyes to catch any minor mistakes you might have missed. Expedited service may be available on a per case basis.
Proofreading is a light service. Proofreaders are checkers who inspect a document to be sure it is ready for submission. They focus on the mechanics of presentation, making sure that everything is complete and correct. They do not evaluate a paper’s ideas or organization, although they may recommend an editing service first if it seems warranted. Proofreaders suggest changes to fix errors in the following areas.
- grammar and usage
No email, phone, or Skype support is included with proofreading. Proofreaders will flag suggestions in Google for you to accept or reject. It is your responsibility to understand and implement these suggestions.
Limitation of Services
Because Inkwell’s philosophy is to equip you with tools for your own success, Inkwell does not guarantee the quality of your paper or a certain final “grade.” We do not write or complete major revision of papers for you—we merely offer suggestions and guidance. You are responsible to do the work. Inkwell is not an essay writing service and does not support plagiarism. Inkwell provides services with the understanding that the document you submit is your original work. Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions equates to a declaration that the work you submit is solely yours and that you take responsibility for it.
By submitting a document for service, you represent that the original work is entirely your own. Inkwell assumes no responsibility for your plagiarism, whether deliberate or unintentional. Inkwell respects that all projects submitted should reflect and remain your own work. Because it is important for you to learn how to apply rules and writing principles to correct your own mistakes and to develop the analytical skills needed for making effective rhetorical choices, tutors provide feedback and make specific suggestions only. They do not make changes to or rewrite your paper. It is your responsibility to consider their suggestions carefully and to implement them in a manner consistent with your vision of the project and your stylistic preferences. We will not write, revise, or re-write your paper for you.
Inkwell makes reasonable attempts to stay on schedule with projects; however, if you submit documents late, we cannot guarantee on-time completion. Neither can we refund any portion of a payment for a project that is late or uncompleted through no fault of our own. You must take responsibility for adhering to submission cycle deadlines. We will honor our deadlines and do our utmost to overcome any power outages or disruption of Internet service or unexpected difficulties that might arise, but we shall be held blameless for things beyond our control.
Inkwell does not guarantee the quality of your final paper. Coaches, editors, and proofreaders exert their best effort to guide you to produce your best work. Rather than perfection, Inkwell’s goal is your understanding, progress and satisfaction with our services.
Submission of Documents
You must complete a new Doc Services Request for each document you would like serviced. In the Request for Doc Services form upload a draft of your document as a Word file, along with the writing prompt, written directions, and any applicable grading rubric. We cannot accommodate your last-minute emergency. Plan ahead to allow sufficient time to meet your deadlines. In order for the tutor assigned to your project to provide the level and extent of services you request, you must allow Inkwell enough lead-time to give your paper careful attention. Expedited service is not guaranteed.
According to the service tier you request, services are charged in 250-word units that are based on the final maximum length of your document. The reason charges are calculated on the final length of a paper is so that you will ignore word limits initially and instead “write big” to allow good ideas to surface in your rough draft. See Inkwell’s website for current fee schedules. Payment will be collected automatically from the card on file in advance of services. A document service will not begin until payment in full is received.
Insufficient Funds and Delinquent Accounts
All tutoring accounts of a family must be in good standing to receive document services. If an online payment is received for document services and the requesting family already has a delinquent account, the payment may be applied to cover the amount in arrears instead of to the document service.
Modification of Agreement
From time to time as need arises, the terms of this agreement may be amended or added to. Such modifications will supersede the terms in this agreement. Copies of the new version of the agreement will be emailed to all clients who are active at the time. By consenting to this policy statement electronically, you agree to abide by any future changes in order to remain a client.
