How to Schedule Tutorial Services
A tutorial session is 50-minutes of individualized instruction. It can be delivered as a private session, shared session, or online session.
What Are Private Sessions?
Private sessions are tutorials offered to a single student. Overseen by a primary teacher, they are highly individualized and flexible.
What Are Shared Sessions?
Shared sessions are tutorials offered to two students who are studying the same subject together. Shared sessions are customized to the course of study agreed upon by both. The advantages of shared sessions are that students have the encouragement of study buddies and that parents have a cost break. Students must arrange for their own partners to share sessions, and once shared sessions are arranged, both students must follow the same schedule of attendance.
What Are Online Sessions?
Online sessions are virtual tutorials offered to a single student. Sometimes, it just isn’t possible to meet in person. Maybe you live on the other side of the world, or maybe the planets just haven’t aligned our schedules. Whatever the reason, we’re here to help. We can meet you online at your convenience.
Online sessions provide the same quality service as do in-person ones. You register in exactly the same way. You meet your teacher for the same amount of time and at the same rates. And you enjoy all the same advantages of personalized attention. The difference is that you’re not in the same room, and the service at this time cannot be shared.
Right now, to meet online we use Skype, a service provider of free HD video calls. All you have to do is install Skype on your computer or mobile device and then share your contact information with your teacher. Once connected, your teacher and you can talk to each other, see each other, and even view each other’s screens. You can share presentations and documents just as though you were in person.
What Are Try-a-Tutor Sessions?
Try-a-Tutor sessions are one-time, in-person tutorials offered to one or two students who are considering which tutor is a good fit for them. In order to be eligible for these discounted tutorials, students must first complete an interview so that the teacher can prepare capably for the session.
Tuition is payable by month before the month’s first scheduled session.
To make quality instruction more affordable, we offer tiered services to fit your budget, based on the level of expertise of a student’s primary teacher. Master Teacher-level instruction is delivered by a highly experienced subject-matter expert who supervises other instructors. Teacher-level instruction is delivered by a highly qualified and seasoned instructor. Apprentice-level instruction is delivered by a qualified tutor who is under the direct supervision of a teacher or master. Sessions may be team-taught. A more experienced instructor may be paired with one who is expanding subject-matter expertise. Occasionally, substitutes are engaged under the supervision of the director.
The following rates apply per session, per student. Full sessions are 50 minutes long (1.0). A session and a half lasts 80 minutes (1.5), and a double session lasts 110 minutes (2.0). By scheduling extended sessions, you gain extra minutes.
