recommended the summer before senior year
The more prestigious the college, the more likely it is to require one or more essays, and the more weight in the admissions process that those essays carry. This class helps students generate creative ideas to showcase themselves—their personalities and their passions. Before the first class, students are asked to complete a personal inventory and to research the schools to which they want to apply—the college’s admissions process, viewbook, and choice of appropriate majors of study. Students draft and revise essays in response to a Common Application prompt and an additional college-specific essay. After the conclusion of the class, proofreading services are available electronically at a per page fee for students who desire a final check from the instructor before submission.
